When I was pregnant I stopped painting because of the fumes. Then when Mika was a baby I didn't want her to breathe the fumes. I have only painted two paintings since she was born. Needless to say, when Auntie Carolyn asked me to paint a mural for her at the Armed Servies YMCA, I couldn't say no. I felt like it was my small way of giving back to a place Mika and I enjoy so much. Auntie and Mika would clean all the toys and Mika got to have special alone time with Auntie while I painted. It was pretty cute to see her "help" clean.
Here is the in progress and final painting. And what you would see in the skies and ocean around these parts. It's not entirely original bc I was heavily inspired by a few internet images of windows/beaches, but we tried to personalize it to Kaneohe and Kailua. Auntie really wanted a papaya in the window too.
