Here are some more shots of the Newport Art Museum's Wet Paint... It was a good turn out! The art scene was VERY different than any art scene I've ever been a part of. Lots more landscapes, and not a lot of funkiness. More like sport coats and moustaches.
I wasn't excited with my painting of our street, but happy enough to hang it in the show. It seemed as though the curators were surprised that my wet painting was wet and stabbed it with their fingers a few times. The director was nice and let me smudge/fix it. I kinda felt violated by this... I mean isn't it caaaalllllled wet paint?
Also the first day when we left there wasn't a bid on my painting. The blank yellow sheet next to my painting haunted me that night. I thought for SURE Justo went in and placed a bid secretly, but he didn't. Their were 4 bids the next day and I felt a lot better. :)
I also found that painting small is not as fun for me as painting on my regularly large canvases. I might rethink my next series- as I was going small to suit our moving every year/ twice a year lifestyle.
anywho. there she is- my first post mika painting. "A Newport Ave." Sold to some lucky buyer at the Newport Auction.
I love the painting. the photographs of the truly golden moments. Life is good!
